Wow, it's been a little over 2 years since I updated anything here.  I'm not dead, I'm a graduate student.

I finished my undergrad, a BA in Digital Interactive Media, in May 2008 and then jumped right into my Masters in DIM in August 2008 and that's where I've been ever since.  I also bought a new car (well, financed one anyway, big mistake), moved into a majorly less insane apartment/roommate situation, and adopted a kitten (now a cat).

I'll finish my Masters this December, and in the meantime I'm looking for jobs in the video game industry, or even just the new media field in general.  See, I went to the Florida Interactive Entertainment Academy thinking I wanted to be a game producer.  After a dramatic first semester and rocky start to the second, I found out I'm far too complacent/accommodating/not-cutthroat/compromising to be one, and that I really more enjoy promoting the amazing work of others who do fit that personality.  So, my true calling turns out to be marketing and promotion, and as such I formed my remaining 3 semesters' worth of work after that.  I do have some art pieces I developed for a few games, so I'll post those here sometime soon.

In the meantime, I'm still cranking out custom cakes for friends and other artsy gifts, so those will continue to show up from time to time.

My laptop died today.

It's been a death in the making.  It started lagging over 3 months ago, not letting me run too many programs at once, having difficult shutdowns, etc.

This morning, I woke up and it said "disc read error, C_A_D to restart" and after doing that, and trying to run the repair console with my XP disc, I was screwed.

Luckily, Circuit City product replacement.  Unfortunately, 2 hours of phone calls to get them to replace it.

Have 2 month old backups, thank god.

But still, I'm laptopless for 2 weeks.

Parents said they're buying me a new one.  Somehow, I'm still not happy.

I by no means consider myself an artist.  A deviant in some respects, yes, according to the dictionary definition.  But an artist, no.  I am more of a renaissance girl, I know bits and pieces of art-related mediums, and while my brain harbors immense stores of creativity, I lack the god-given talent to produce true "art" in my eyes.

So why do I now have a DA account with stuff on it?

I got bored at work.  And when I get bored, things happen.

I'm also a comment-whore.  I love to hear opinions on my work, good or bad.  I've done my fair share of digital artwork, graphic design, culinary art, costume and prop creation, and other general "artsy" nonsense.  Why not display it here?

Also, I completely blame Shawn for this.
